Adoption Seminar at the Night of Hope

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Dear friends,

Hunter Street Baptist Church will be building up the body of Christ with a special event called the 'Night of Hope' this coming Wednesday, September 2nd, from 6:15 to 8:00 PM. The event will be presented in a seminar-like format. The Adoption Ministry at Hunter Street will be featured as one of the "seminars". There will be two 45 minute sessions. We'd love for you to be there and to participate in our sessions.

Our speaker will be David Nasser and his wife Jennifer. As most of you know, David is a gifted and straight shooting evangelist most recently active with the Glory Revealed Tour; he and his wife Jennifer are also adoptive parents. David will be speaking on a beautiful and central doctrine of our faith, the Theology of Adoption, what God says about it and what hope it brings to you.

We would like any of you who would like to participate to come by our room either at six o'clock or at seven o'clock. We hope to be reaching people in the church who might not have ever come to one of our meetings, but who God is leading toward adoption in some role -- be it as adoptive parents, as foster parents, as supporters of those who have been called to these roles, or as those who are called to care for the orphan in any of the multitude of ways that it can be done. Your participation may be to simply attend the meetings, it may be to help us host the meetings as a greeter or a listener, or it may be to pray for us and our guests during the meetings -- the choice is yours... please pray and see where God is leading you.

If you are planning to attend, please let us know. We want to both serve you and help you plug-in so that you can serve. Simply reply to this post to let us know what God has placed on your heart.

We are excited about what God is going to do and to see the hope that he will impart to His children.

Sincerely,

Jack and Teri Lavallet
The Adoption Ministry at Hunter Street

PS --- we do not yet have a room number assigned, we will send out a follow-up e-mail tomorrow with details.
PPS -- here are some important details about the 'Night of Hope':

Night of Hope
September 2, 2009

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:23-25

Matt Brown>
I just wanted to thank you, Vince and Alisa, for filling us in on what is going on with your adoptions. Your faith and steadfastness are certainly an inspiration. I appreciated your honesty an candor. We will be praying for you guys as you wait, that your time to travel we come soon.

On another note, great blog! I plan on spending some time there checking out all of those great links. I had to force myself to leave before I spent all night there. It looks like you guys are going to have a little tiger on your hands!

God Bless!

Hello everyone,

Thanks for a great meeting tonight and thanks for logging on and setting up a profile. If you weren't able to make the meeting tonight but stumbled onto the blog through the invite we sent - welcome and please contribute. This blog has been set up through the untiring efforts of Matt Brown; its purpose is to establish a means of communication between families toward supporting those families in their respective adoption journeys. Matt has some ground rules that we'll post soon. At a minimum though, please set up a profile so we'll all get to know each other better.

May God bless you for your love for His children! Many more posts to come...

Jack
